I'm entering my 6th year in the PhD program in Slavic Languages at Columbia University. My dissertation traces the topos of the Soviet-Afghan War in the works of Svetlana Alexievich, the novels of Alexander Prokhanov, and on the screen of television and cinema in Russia.
